Temporary Safety Isolations and Disconnections

Westpower currently provides Temporary Safety Isolations for the public. On customer owned Low Voltage service lines, this is a free service.

If you need a Temporary or Safety Disconnection, please contact us on 0800 768 241.

Please give a minimum of 24hours notice.

General examples of Westpower funded temporary safety isolations:

  • Safety for emergency services access e.g. fire
  • Electrical internal fault repairs e.g. existing mains repairs/replacement
  • Building repairs e.g. roofing, recladding, spouting
  • Homeowner maintenance e.g. water blasting, painting
  • Scaffolding e.g. installation and removal
  • Minor tree trimming e.g. customer boundary
  • Line drop for building repair, property access
  • Other non-electrical work where workers may come into contact with low voltage service lines

This free service excludes:

  • Westpower customer initiated work, new connections e.g. new installation
  • Capacity upgrades e.g. consumer mains upgrade
  • Capacity downgrade e.g. reduction in fuse rating
  • Changing from a temporary to permanent supply
  • Line alteration or relocation
  • Non-domestic connections e.g. dairy sheds, workshops, factories
  • Retailer Revenue Metering:
    • Retailer meter replacement e.g. existing meters
    • Revenue meter removal e.g. permanent disconnection
    • Ripple relay replacement e.g. ripple relay fault
    • Reconnection/Disconnection e.g. non-payment
    • Moving a revenue meter
